Early Life

Following high school, Prevost earned a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Villanova University in 19771. His academic thesis explored algebraic structures.
He joined the Order of St. Augustine in 1977, completed an M.Div. at Catholic Theological Union by 1982, and taught at St. Rita of Cascia High School during his studies2.
Ordained on June 19, 1982 by Archbishop Jean Jadot, he was then assigned to Rome’s Pontifical North American College, where he fostered ecumenical dialogues3.
